Thanks to his father, a real estate broker, Rick Hernandez started his real estate career at age 12. “My older brother and I would place door hangers on homes in the neighborhood,” he says. “We would help ‘farm’ and after years of hearing my dad conduct business, I had a basic understanding of what buying and selling a home consisted of.” Later, Rick earned a degree in Business Administration from California State Polytechnic University in Pomona. “I always had an interest in finance and real estate, so I entered the mortgage business after graduating and got my license in 2002,” he says. “I worked as an in-house lender at a real estate office until 2012, when I decided it was time for a change.”
That’s when Rick joined WCC, where he has been a major asset to the organization ever since. “Working for a direct lender enables me to give my clients and all of my Realtor partners the level of service they deserve,” he says. Peggy’s more than 30-year background in human resources eventually led her to WCC, where he has been our Director of Human Resources since 2013. In 2017, she made the decision to shift her focus to directly serving our borrowers – specifically, adults aged 62 and over who can benefit from reverse mortgage loans. “I’m taking a leap of faith,” Peggy says, “and doing it all to help those who qualify to benefit from the reverse mortgage product – and, to educate those who may soon qualify for it.”
For Peggy, the interest in applying her professional acumen to reverse mortgage stemmed from engaging in conversations about the myths that surround it. “I get such immense joy just from educating my friends and potential clients on how this product can help them,” she says. “There are a lot of myths out there.” As a reverse mortgage specialist, “My job is to make sure you know what’s true and what applies to your unique situation.” For the benefit of hearing-impaired borrowers, Peggy is partially fluent in American Sign Language (ASL).
In her spare time, Peggy enjoys golf, cooking and volunteer work. She lives in Ontario with her “adorable, spoiled” Maltese puppy Maxwell.
